Himar Hernandez, Extension Community and Economic Development Specialist, helps new Iowans by giving them the tools and knowledge to be successful in the United States.
“Immigration is not new to Iowa,” Hernandez said. “We are very community oriented.” He works to empower new Iowans with information to make informed decisions. Information on finances, legal issues, health care and housing are topics of interest in the 10 sessions of Success in the North.
Integrating new Iowans into their communities
Officers from Iowa State Savings Bank in Lennox, Iowa worked with ISU Extension to reach out to the Latino community and build bridges between the new Iowans and longer-term residents.
