Fairfield Compost Day

In an effort to get as many residents in town as possible to compost, the city of Fairfield recently hosted a composting day. Residents had the opportunity to learn more about the composting process, as well as purchase a composter at cost from the city. Scott Timm, sustainability coordinator for Fairfield, was on hand to talk to residents about the project. Timm is also a community and economic development program specialist with ISU Extension.

ISU Extension and the city hosted a series of programs, called Backyard Conservation, designed to teach southeast Iowans some tricks and tips for growing gardens and yards while saving water, soil and energy throughout the growing season.

In the video, Timm talks about the composting day project, the importance of composting and the steps involved in the composting process.

Visit the Fairfield Go Green website for more information on the city’s projects.
