On the heels of a complete hog market collapse, pork producers were searching for ways to expand their markets and return profitability to their enterprises. Out of this need, a partnership of more than 20 organizations and 40 plus cooperatives and businesses was formed called the Pork Niche Market Working Group.
Here is the website for the Pork Niche Working Group – which ISU Extension is a key partner in. This started in 1998 and brought all the pork groups together.

Michigan State University Extension has two publications aimed at pork niche market producers that members of this group might find helpful.
